The design of the “Twin Beech” D18 proved so adaptable that Beechcraft Aircraft Corporation eventually produced 32 versions — and more than 9,000 total aircraft — from 1937 to 1969. They served in a wide variety of roles, from passenger transport to mail carrier, and even as a military trainer for navigators and bombardiers. The original E-flite Beechcraft D18 1.5m quickly became known as the most convenient, well-equipped, and easiest-to-fly scale model of the unique aviation icon. Now it's available again with a military trim scheme based on a US Navy variant that first entered service as a navigation trainer, then underwent an overhaul and was reconfigured as a photo reconnaissance trainer in the 1950s. It's outfitted with numerous scale details, as well as functional features such as LED navigation lights, retractable landing gear, and flaps, which further enhance its realism. The 3S and 4S compatible power system features an exclusive Spektrum Avian Dual Smart Lite ESC. The BNF Basic version is also equipped with an AR631+ receiver, delivering real-time telemetry data along with AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. The E-flite Beechcraft D18/RC-45J 1.5m is the most convenient, capable, and easiest to fly scale model of one of general and military aviation's most recognizable aircraft! Its twin brushless power system, with specially tuned motors, delivers better-than-scale-like performance when using 3S 3200-5000mAh batteries. Or it can deliver even more speed and unlimited vertical performance with a 4S battery – no modifications or upgrades required. It's also equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Dual 40-amp Smart Lite ESC, which can provide a variety of real-time power system telemetry data with both Smart and non-Smart batteries via compatible receivers (including the AR631+ installed in the BNF Basic version) and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters. The BNF Basic version is also the only Twin Beech model equipped with enhanced AS3X+ and optional-use SAFE Select technologies, making it the easiest to fly D18/RC-45J yet. Skill Level 2 – Some Experience Required
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Valiant 1.3m, Commander mPd 1.4m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the Beechcraft D18/RC-45J 1.5m BNF Basic version.

Exclusive Technologies
The BNF Basic version Beechcraft D18/RC-45J 1.5m is equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR631+ receiver that features exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence, delivering a locked-in feel that makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits, along with automatic self-leveling, which can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch. If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally, and only AS3X+ will be active. The receiver is also loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that allows you to import all the settings for NX and iX series transmitters during the binding process so you can be flying in less time than ever before!
Smart Transmitter File
This BNF aircraft is equipped with a receiver that is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that makes programming your transmitter as easy as a few clicks of a button. When you bind your transmitter to an STF-equipped aircraft, all programming parameters download automatically from the receiver. Switch assignments, rates, expo, telemetry, and voice callouts configure themselves. No lengthy step-by-step instructions. No continual adjustments. Just push-button convenience that gets you flying faster.
Smart Technology
The D18/RC-45J 1.5m is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Dual Smart Lite ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including overall battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR631+ installed in the BNF Basic version) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly. Additionally, factory-programmed differential thrust provides improved ground handling for easier taxiing, takeoffs, and landings, as well as the ability to perform specialized aerobatic maneuvers.
Versatile Twin Power
The factory-installed twin brushless power system features a Spektrum Avian Dual 40-amp Smart Lite ESC plus specially-tuned motors with counter-rotating props that deliver an abundance of thrust with a 3S LiPo battery, or more speed and unlimited vertical performance with a 4S battery – without the need for any modifications or upgrades. The large battery compartment accommodates batteries ranging from 3200 to 5000mAh, including two 2200mAh batteries connected in parallel, to deliver a wide range of performance and flight times.

The factory-assembled airframe is equipped with an abundance of scale detail, including molded-in panel lines and hatches, antennas, exhaust stacks, a pilot figure, and more. This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver featuring enhanced AS3X+ (Artificial Stabilization–3-aXis Plus) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence. The result is a heightened sense of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft.
If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required. Simply change up the binding sequence as directed in the manual.
With SAFE Select enabled, you get:
Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
- These envelope limits keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles.
Automatic Self-Leveling
- The airplane instantly returns to and holds level flight when the sticks are released and in the center position. It's also helpful for keeping the wings level during takeoffs/launches and landings.
Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required
- The simple procedure for assigning a transmitter switch to turn SAFE Select features on and off doesn't require any complex programming and takes just a few seconds.
If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, just bind the receiver normally and it will function like a standard AS3X+ receiver.
