Their cutting-edge, teardrop-shaped designs, coupled with small wings, required a skillful hand to fly well, but with the right pilot, they dominated the racecourse. The E-flite® Gee Bee R-2 1.0m is a faithful replica of the iconic aircraft, featuring an abundance of scale detail along with modern features and technologies to deliver an unmatched flying experience. It assembles quickly and is sized to be easily stored and transported without disassembly. The Bind-N-Fly® Basic version is equipped with enhanced AS3X+® technology that smooths out the effects of wind and turbulence like never before, plus optional-use SAFE® Select technology that makes it easier to fly. Both versions include Spektrum digital, metal-geared servos, a 70A Smart Lite ESC, and a 4S-compatible motor.

Aviation history produced few designs as unique and recognizable as the Gee Bee R-2, yet RC modelers rarely get the chance to fly one. The E-flite® Gee Bee R-2 1.0m is a conveniently sized replica that offers incredible scale detail, modern conveniences, features, and technologies to deliver a truly unmatched flying experience! It's capable of fast and smooth flying at speeds of up to 100 MPH in a dive, along with a variety of aerobatics, and has unexpectedly stable slow-speed handling that makes it easier and more enjoyable for intermediate to experienced pilots to fly.
It features an authentic outline and an abundance of scale details, including molded-in panel lines, a simulated radial engine, flying wires, and a pilot figure. Functional features include shock-absorbing landing gear and wheels specifically designed to make it easier to land, along with a steerable tailwheel. The one-piece wing includes hands-free connections, yet the Gee Bee 1.0m is sized to be easy to store and transport without disassembly. The factory-installed digital and metal-geared servos provide precise and reliable control at every speed. The power system includes a Spektrum™ outrunner motor and an Avian™ 70-amp Smart Lite ESC, which are compatible with popular 4S 3200-5000mAh batteries. The Bind-N-Fly® Basic version is also equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR631+ receiver featuring exclusive and enhanced AS3X+, along with optional-use SAFE Select technologies to provide you with the outstanding control you always wanted but never thought possible in a Gee Bee model. Skill Level 2 – Some Experience Required
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Sportix 1.1m, Commander mPd 1.4m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the Gee Bee R-2 1.0m BNF Basic version.
Exclusive Technologies
The BNF Basic version Gee Bee R-2 1.0m is equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR631+ receiver that features exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally, and only AS3X+ will be active. The receiver is also loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that allows you to import all the settings for NX and iX series transmitters during the binding process so you can be flying in less time than ever before!

Smart Transmitter File
This BNF aircraft is equipped with a receiver that is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that makes programming your transmitter as easy as a few clicks of a button. When you bind your transmitter to an STF-equipped aircraft, all programming parameters download automatically from the receiver. Switch assignments, rates, expo, telemetry, and voice callouts configure themselves. No lengthy step-by-step instructions. No continual adjustments. Just push-button convenience that gets you flying faster.
Smart Technology
The Gee Bee R-2 1.0m features an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC, which delivers real-time telemetry data directly to your transmitter. This advanced ESC monitors motor RPM, current, battery voltage, and more while you fly. The telemetry works with both Smart and non-Smart batteries through compatible receivers, such as the AR631+ and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e, DX8e, DX6 G2/3, DX8 G2, DX9, NX6-20, iX12-20, and others).
Flexible Power
The factory-installed Spektrum brushless outrunner motor is 4S compatible, delivering excellent performance worthy of the original racer, including top speeds upwards of 100 MPH in a dive. The convenient top-mounted and magnetically secured hatch makes it easy to install and remove popular 3200–5000mAh batteries.

This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver featuring enhanced AS3X+ (Artificial Stabilization–3-aXis Plus) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence. The result is a heightened sense of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft.
If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required. Simply change up the binding sequence as directed in the manual.
With SAFE Select enabled, you get:
Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
- These envelope limits keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles.
Automatic Self-Leveling
- The airplane instantly returns to and holds level flight when the sticks are released and in the center position. It's also helpful for keeping the wings level during takeoffs/launches and landings.
Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required
- The simple procedure for assigning a transmitter switch to turn SAFE Select features on and off doesn't require any complex programming and takes just a few seconds.
If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, just bind the receiver normally and it will function like a standard AS3X+ receiver.
